Dr. Nikita Patel, ND
Being born and partly raised in India, I have been continually exposed to natural medicine such as medicinal spices, wild herbs grown in our backyard, and healing food combinations. I have been around holistic (Ayurvedic) medicine my whole life. Throughout my childhood, both my parents instilled in me the important values that I apply to my treatments, such as the importance of integrity for wellbeing. Every day, I strive to both educate and assist my patients, empowering them to live a better and healthier life.
I am a native of Columbia, Maryland. I earned my B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (summa cum laude) from the National University of Health Sciences. The naturopathic medicine program is a 4-year post-bachelor medical training at a naturopathic medical school. I am a Maryland state licensed Naturopathic doctor.
Aside from passionately assisting people to get well using natural medicine, I am a yogini practicing self-awareness. I love traveling to experience different cultures around the world. If I am not traveling, then I am spending quality time with friends and family, reading, dancing (Indian), Netflix, painting, and cooking.
Why Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine focuses on - getting to the root cause of the dis-ease, creating the determinants of health, and always treating the whole person. Check out the Modalities tab for more information on natural therapies that I focus on in my practice.
As a naturopathic doctor, it is important to me that as my patient you understand what is going on, what I am going to give and how I expect it to act, and how long it will take to restore balance so that you can make intelligent and educated choices about your healthcare. I want you to feel smarter and more capable of maintaining your health for having come to see me and eventually not need me.
In my practice, I treat you as the individual, treat holistically, look for the underlying imbalances and look to support the natural healing processes.
I have a strong desire to serve my community, and naturopathic medicine allows me to do just that locally and virtually across the country.
