Shamanic Healing, Epigenetic & Intergenerational Trauma: How They Impact Your Physical Health

Writer: Dr. Nikita PatelDr. Nikita Patel

Many chronic illnesses that run in families are influenced by epigenetic, which refers to changes in gene expression rather than alterations in the DNA sequence itself. So what causes these changes in the gene expression?

Both Nature & Nurturance

Our gene expressions evolve gradually in response to both internal factors—such as thoughts, emotions, and nutrition—and external influences, including social environments, geography, and politics. At the spirit level these are ancestral wounds or unresolved traumas passed down through generations.

Psycho-neuro-Endo-immunology is how your bodymind adjusts your biology based on your thoughts- whether they are conscious or unconscious (experience at the body level). These traumas which are often mostly unconscious get stored in the biology, passing down through generations until someone decides to become conscious of it.

Otherwise these unconscious gene expressions affecting your health often manifest as patterns of disease, stress, and emotional burdens that you can’t seem to shake off.

For example, if you have difficulty embracing joy or positive experiences in life, this emotional pattern may manifest physically as diabetes, where you must avoid sweet foods. This can symbolically mirror a disconnection from the sweetness and joy in life.

Have you ever wondered why you are asked about your family’s medical history by your doctors? If your parents or grandparents have struggled with a certain health condition, you may be more susceptible to it. Unconscious medicine aims to monitor and manage these risks, often recommending early intervention with medications, scare you into lifestyle changes that may feel overwhelming, or an array of daily supplements that can feel like a chore -it's still all helpful. But what if there was another way?

What if you could break free from these inherited health challenges by addressing their root cause and healing them at the source?

Healing ancestral wounds allows you to address the root cause of illness on an energetic level, before symptoms become severe or even after a diagnosis. By engaging in this deep healing work, you can break the cycle of disease that has persisted through your lineage.

The Power of Soul Healing

When healing happens on an energetic and subconscious level, restoring health becomes effortless. You no longer have to struggle to force wellness into existence. Instead, your body and spirit naturally align with healing, guiding you toward the nourishment and care you need without resistance.

In my practice, we begin by listening to your body’s wisdom through mindfulness and deep awareness. By tapping into these intuitive messages, we uncover the specific needs of your body for healing. Over multiple sessions, we move deeper into ancestral healing ceremonies, ensuring that you are ready to receive the healing and that obstacles to your well-being are cleared at the spirit level.

Transformation from the Inside Out - with mindbody medicine and shamanic healing

Once healing is embodied at the spirit level, your entire perspective shifts effortlessly. No more pushing yourself or feeling frustrated. The right healing path unfolds naturally—whether that means feeling drawn to nutrient-dense foods like fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and ethically sourced animal products, or being intuitively guided toward the right health practitioners, herbs, or supplements. Instead of feeling like an uphill battle, your healing journey begins to feel like floating gently downstream, supported by the natural flow of life.

Building on the earlier example of diabetes, you are now beginning to embrace joy and recognize your worthiness to receive all the good that life has to offer. Gradually, the physical body responds to these changes, and you find yourself living with more health. You may even find yourself eating naturally sweet foods packed with nutrients, no longer emotionally numbing guilt and shame with processed sugar. This shift in your lifestyle allows your body to heal and maintain a balanced blood sugar.

This is what it means to embark on a conscious healing path—one where you reclaim your health by addressing the root cause at every level: mind, body, and spirit. By healing ancestral wounds, you are not just transforming your own health; you are breaking cycles for future generations to come, allowing them to inherit emotional resilience, greater well-being, and a more harmonious connection to their bodies and spirits.
